This section list the adventures of Jinjin and Sasa as they embarked on the quest of finding good quality aquariums all over Singapore. In this post, it details their treasure hunt in Seletar West Farmway. There are many areas that allocated to fish farming in Singapore, and Seletar West Farmway is one of them. This place is famous among locals for its high quality koi and goldfish. Regardless of whatever fish you are looking for, there is always something here for everyone. Always bargain for a lower price here - the prices are usually flexible except for very small fish (about 20-80 cents).
| Our hunt begins at C & B Aquarium, located at the extreme left of the map. This aquarium stock good quality koi, and specialize in koi only. Koi lovers will find the quality of koi here to be excellent, and many high graded koi is available here at vastly reduced prices. Walking a bit further up is Atlas Aquarium. This aquarium stock all kind of fish, and also import koi. A warning to those who try to purchase fish here: the lady boss is a bit pushy, and will try to make you buy her fishes. Of interest to rare fish collectors is the butterfly fish. It is on sale here at SG$5/= each (after bargaining). The small elephant nose fish, another rare find in Singapore, is available here at SG$8/= each (after bargaining of course).
Slightly further up is Mollie Aquarium. This aquarium just specialize in Gold Fish. Several larger, high quality gold fish can be found here. A walk among the shade would lead you to Golden Tropical Fish. Of interest to the traveller is the huge variety of discus fish. Discus Fish of all colors and size are available here from SG$5/= for baby discus to SG$1,500 for a really beautiful medium discus. Also for those who like beautiful betta fish, there are quite a number in stock. While I initially do not intend to purchase anything, the quality of the excellent fish made me purchase two clown loaches, some black neon tetra, and some penguin fish. Aiya, I just could not resist purchasing more fishy for my aquarium! :P

Try to contact me here: www.hadiaquarium.blogspot.com, cool discus, reasonable price!!!
See ya.
Fantastic. It doesn't look like you need heaters in Singapore, is that the case? I wish we had the selection you do. BTW, what's the exchange rate for Singapore $? 'cause $8.00US for an Elephant Nose in the Twin Cities would be 1/2 off! A butterfly fish here is about $10.00 US.
Last week I added a pair of Dwarf Gouramis I paid $20.00 for. I got ripped off, they're about $10.00 a pair everywhere else. Still.
The only "Cheap" fish here are livebearers, except guppies for some reason, and tetras. I've stocked my tank with rasporas to keep with the Aisa theme and those litte devils were about $3.00 a piece. For tiny fish!!!
Anway, keep up the good work here Eugene!
Dear Sank,
No we don't need heaters in Singapore. It is hot all the year round from 24 degrees to 34 degree Celcius. 74-84 F
The exchange rate for Singapore to US$ is 1.7SG$ to 1 US$. So an elephant nose at SG$8/= is about US$ 5.40.
Frankly, most of the dwarf gouramis here are about SG $1/= to SG$2/= each (About US$0.65 to US$1.30/=). If you buy directly from a fish farm, you can get them at SG 80 cents each. The fish are cheap here. 100 guppies, mollies or small tropical fish used as food for larger fish could be bought for SG $1/= if you know where to go.
Next Week, I will post some of these places that sell the fishes cheaply. You may also catch them in the wild, it is free.. :)
Feeder guppies are cheap, the nice ones are the expensive ones.
You can set up a "Native" tank here with some interesting fish, a few are pretty colorful, but for some reason most fish here aren't all that friendly. I'll send you a like to the top predator in our lake... Impressive fish.
I enjoyed you other blog about clown loaches which led me here. This is a really well made blog! You obviously know your way around computers as well as fish (I am not as good at computers, but have spent 27 years in professional aquarium maintenance and design).
Here is one of my many fish blogs:

Carl
A friend of mine is in Singapore and will be returning to the US in August. Is there any fish or product you would suggest I have him buy and bring back for me?
Dear Carl,
What you want to import back to US is dependent on your taste. If you are business man, an arowana or Koi would be ideal as it brings good luck.
Regardless of the fish you choose, I can assure you that the prices of fishes in Singapore tends to be highly competitive and are often considerable cheaper than what you can find in USA.
Cheers.
Thank you for answering my earlier question. Do any links to Singapore aquarium stores so I can see what they have available?
Thanks Ghoti
www.qianhu.com is one of the biggest fish farm in singapore
atlasaqm.net is another excellent website offering a wide range of fish.
If you have any specific fish in mind, let me know :D
Do you have any links of actual aquarium stores so I can compare prices in Singapore with those here in the US. IF I can find something special or great price I may have my friend bring back some equipment instead of fish. Any help would be appreciated
I am looking for Goo-obo gudgeons. Do you know if they are available in Singapore and if so what do they generally sell for?
dear Ghoti,
I don't know what type of fish it is.
Qianhu fish farm is a good site
atlas is another good lead
I am a bit disappointed. I went to Sea View asking for 25 tetras and the boss gave me 20. Kinda felt cheated.
