Blue crayfish are really neat to have in an aquarium. I know I order goldfish every year and I always get a bunch or crayfish mixed in with my orders. They might be neat but they are excellent at catching goldfish :)

Lets just say they caught a goldfish or two. I did see one catch a goldfish and was cool to see this in action but poor goldfish at the same time :(

Cool photos of the blue crayfish. He has a nice little home too coconut shell.

Sincerely,

Hi!

I'm a regular visitor and reader of your blog and I have a very specific question about the site.

I was wondering if the owner/creator of "aquariumlore.blogspot.com" could e-mail me back at czarina@saltwater-aquarium-online-guide.com

Thank you,

Hello,

Are blue crayfish typically tropical? I would love to add one to my tank, and add one to my website Fresh Water Hobbyist but I don't know if the heated tropical environment would be good for the little guy, and I can't very well recommend it to my users if its not tropical. Also will he eat my tetra?--Jesse

Jesse,

yes they will eat smaller tetra. They are tropical. :)

I never really thought about keeping crayfish...interesting though. It's really different and might just be an interesting twist.

Just another thing - is that a real coconut in the tank or does it just look like one?

Taking care of fishers is not a problem. But with plants, it is a different story. Any tips ? Have a look at my unhealthy plants at www.rizafna.blogspot.com

I like crayfish but they are always eating my fish. They also reproduce very fast. Last time I had to give them away to my friends.

I had two blue crayfish in my aquarium, and I totally agree with Eugene, they loved my tetras, they even had them for dinner once.

can tetras, zebra danio, guppies and betta fish live in community?
Will they attack each other?

Beta,

I think that danio and betta would be fine in a community aquarium. Some faster tetra would also settle down fine. However the problem is the guppies - some guppies have very elabourate finages and tails that makes the betta thinks it is another competitor and betta are agressive to what they think is a male of their own speices. :(
